Stairs are not available in the types of houses that everyone lived in in the past, but now because of the advancement of science and technology, many new types of houses have begun to appear. Recently, the type of houses that have attracted people’s attention are duplex buildings. The duplex building not only has a very stable staircase, but also slightly better than other types in terms of appearance. So how wide is the staircase? How to calculate the stair steps?

How wide is the stairs

The step width of the stairs should not be less than 0.26 meters, and the step height should not be greater than 0.175 meters. When the net width of the stairwell is greater than 0.11 meters, measures must be taken to prevent children from climbing.

  1. The step width of the indoor and outdoor steps of the total building should not be less than 0.30m, and the step height should not be greater than 0.15m, and should not be less than 0.10m.

  2. The height-to-width ratio of the stair step is determined according to the requirements of the stair slope and the natural step (step distance) of different types of human bodies, which meets the requirements of safety, convenience and comfort. The slope is generally controlled at about 30°, and the requirement is relaxed for the service stairs only for a few people, but it should not exceed 45°. The stride distance is based on the formula of 2r+g: horizontal stride distance, where r is the step height and g is the step width. Adults and children, men and women, young adults and the elderly are different, generally in the range of 560~630mm. Children are around 560mm, and adults are around 600mm on average.

  3. The step height of passenger tunnels and overpasses should not be greater than 0.14m, the step width should not be less than 0.32m, each step should not be greater than 18 steps, and the width of the straight running step platform should not be less than 1.5m.

How to calculate stair steps

  1. Estimated step number: adjust the total step height H and step width b. Divide H by the step height h to get the step number n≈H/h. At this time, take an integer. Adjust the step height h (h≈H/n), the stair step calculation formula b + 2h = 600 ~ 620 (mm) or b + h = 450 (mm), and get the step width b.

2. Estimate the range of step height and width: first select step width b and step height h according to the specification restrictions, the usual formula is 2h + b = 600 plus or minus 20 (where h and b are step height and width) ÷ step height = The number of steps, which is an integer N. Residential step width 250-280 choose integer, step height 150-165. The public step width is 300-350, and the step height is about 150.

The size of the stairs is very important for the stairs. After the size is different, people will feel very different in the process of using it. So everyone should pay more attention to it when building it. If it is sloppy, it will not let it. Your own experience becomes better, and only by paying attention to it can you make things perform well.
